What the number captures

The number reflects what customers say in public reviews, normalized across the AI-classified review base. It's a relative-positioning metric for comparing chains against each other and against the chain-category median, rather than an internal incident rate.

What drives the rate

Operating levers from most to least controllable: equipment maintenance cadence, tunnel calibration discipline, staff intercept training, and customer mix. Where the chain sits on each combines into the headline rate.

The unlimited mention rate (16.8%) at Fast5Xpress Car Wash reads as a maturing-but-not-saturated program.

Fast5Xpress Car Wash's aspect profile leads on facility cleanliness and lags on equipment reliability — the gap between best and worst pillar shapes the customer-experience read.

The damage signal converts to dollars through refund exposure, equipment refresh capex, and brand recovery cost. Fast5Xpress Car Wash's 4.0% warrants meaningful remediation in the entry valuation.
