This Privacy Policy describes how WashIndex (“WashIndex,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), operated by Sparkle Technologies, collects, uses, and shares information about you when you visit washindex.com (the “Site”), use the WashIndex platform at platform.washindex.com (the “Platform”), or otherwise interact with our services.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Information you provide directly. When you subscribe to our Intelligence Blog, we collect your email address (and any other fields you choose to share) through Mailchimp. When you contact us, we collect the contents of your message and your contact information.
  • Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our analytics providers automatically collect technical information including your IP address, device and browser type, operating system, referring URLs, the pages you view, the time spent on each page, and click events. This is collected via Google Analytics 4 and standard hosting server logs.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies and local storage to operate the Site, remember your preferences, and measure usage. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through your settings.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site, the Platform, and our newsletter.
  • Send you the Intelligence Blog if you have subscribed.
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
  • Analyze how visitors use the Site so we can improve content and design.
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the third-party service providers listed above (each acting as our processor), when required by law, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business.

Data retention

We retain newsletter subscriber information until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics retention settings (default: 14 months). Server logs are typically retained for up to 90 days.

Your choices and rights

You may:

  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send you, or by emailing contact@washindex.com.
  • Opt out of Google Analytics using the browser add-on linked above.
  • Request access, correction, or deletion of any personal information we hold about you. Email contact@washindex.com and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like the EU GDPR, the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), or similar regimes. We honor these rights to the extent they apply.

Children’s privacy

The Site and Platform are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Effective” date at the top. Material changes will be communicated via the Site or by email to subscribers, where appropriate.
